About The Structured Literacy PracticuM
Glean Education is thrilled to share information about our free Structured Literacy practicum released in partnership with Washington State OSPI. The practicum is aligned with the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading and is designed to support the implementation of Washington’s HB6162.

This practicum is designed for Tier 1 teachers, Interventionists, Special Education staff, Building Level Specialists, Paraprofessionals, and Parents who are interested in applying on demand coursework in Structured Literacy to Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 interventions in their classrooms.

In alignment with Washington State Legislation, House Bill 6162 (HB6162), participants will complete a year-long Structured Literacy Practicum that addresses struggling readers as identified by an OSPI-approved dyslexia screener. Participants will document the intervention and track student progress toward a specific and measurable goal. Teachers will use a Responsive Teaching Framework/DBI (Schiller, 2008) to support participants in adapting instruction to meet the needs of each student.
-
There are two pieces to Glean’s Structured Literacy Practicum supervision:
Live Zoom Check-In: Participants will engage in Office Hours with a Glean Structured Literacy Coach. These sessions can consist of the lesson plan review, modeling, prior lesson plan feedback, and/or resource shareouts.
Virtual Lesson Plan & Double-Entry Reflection Diary Review: Participants will submit their lesson plans and reflection diaries to their Structured Literacy Coach for review each week.
